The parish council is a body of chosen people, studious and thoughtful, reflective of the local community, consulted by the pastor, and dependent upon him for the council’s identity. The parish council has only an advisory role for the clergy, especially the pastor. A parish council exists because we, as clergy, seek practical advice on pastoral matters. We believe that God’s Spirit speaks through our people of OLG! We consult the council because we want to know what is wise and prudent. However, the implementation of parish council recommendations is not the work of the council.
