Interested In Having Your Wedding At Our Lady of Guadalupe

Congratulations on considering the sacrament of marriage!

Because Christian marriage is a sacrament, the Catholic Church wants couples to be well-prepared. Marriage preparation helps couples develop a better understanding of the sacrament; to evaluate and deepen their readiness to live married life, and to gain insights into themselves as individuals and as a couple.

Marriage preparation goes beyond choosing a date and church, reserving a place for a reception, and picking out dresses. The important thing for engaged couples to keep in mind as they check numerous items off their pre-wedding “to-do” list is the well-known adage, “Your wedding lasts a day, but your marriage lasts a lifetime.”

The Church encourages couples to invest time and energy into the all-important work of preparing for their married life together. The Catholic Church wants couples to form strong, long lasting marriages which takes a lot of time and effort. To prepare for the sacrament of marriage in the Catholic Church, you and your partner will meet with the priest/marriage prep coordinator many times, attend an approved marriage preparation retreat, and gather all the necessary paperwork – obtaining a newly issued copy of your baptism certificate to include any other sacraments you may have received (first communion and/or confirmation).

The Marriage preparation process in the Catholic Church takes at least six months before the date you wish to get married.

For couples wanting to marry at Our Lady of Guadalupe, please contact us six to nine months before your anticipated wedding date to begin the marriage preparation process. Please kindly hold off booking any specific wedding date until you have had your first meeting with the priest.
