Talk:  Sharing Yourself

The purpose of this talk is to share how you influence and affect other people in your life.  Who are the people who rely on you, turn to you, need your help?  What do you do to place others before yourself?  How does giving yourself to other relate to your relationship with God?  The students will begin to see the affect their lives have on others.

The Talk:
Use these questions as prompts for brainstorming and writing your talk. Refer to the purpose of the talk above as well.

Describe ways in which you have shared your gifts with others in your life.  Who is (are) this (these) person(s) in your life?

 

How do you determine what you have to offer?

 

Why do you choose to give of yourself?

 

What challenges to you face when you do something for another person?

 

What do you learn about yourself when you give? 

 

How does your experience helping others reflect your relationship to God?

Song:

This should connect to your topic and who you are.  It may be mainstream or Christian music, with no bad words or themes.  The song sheets are something the candidates take home to remember you and your song.  They must be typed on colored, white, or designed paper.  Be creative.  Let us know if you need help with copies.

 

Gift:

This is your labor of LOVE.  It should relate to your talk and theme.  Plan to bring your supplies to our peer leader retreat and others can help make your gifts during our down time.  Do not spend more than $10.  If you need $$ or supplies, please let us know.  Be creative!  Sample ideas:

  • Handmade cross
  • Ornament
  • Decade of the rosary with string and beads
