The LA2LA Missionaries (Los Angeles to Latin America) is a new ministry at OLG designed to support the Evangelizadores de Tiempo Completo (ETC) in El Salvador through prayer, financial support, and volunteer recruitment.
Who are the Evangelizadores de Tiempo Completo (ETC)
ETC serves to fill in the huge gap of shortage of priests by training and supporting full time Catholic lay missionaries to serve families in remote villages in El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, and Venezuela who are experiencing spiritual and material poverty. These missionaries focus on 3 distinct areas:
> Catechesis – Teach the faith to those living in areas of extreme poverty
> Human Welfare – Ensure basic corporal needs to develop the person as a whole and encourage self-sufficiency by providing basic necessities, usually in the form of food and medicines
> Liturgical Ceremonies – Offering the sacraments and life through the divine spirit
Why support ETC?
OLG parishioners, Arne & Kathya Guerra moved from El Salvador to Hermosa Beach in 2022 after years of supporting ETC with their time, talent, and treasure. As they grew as disciples through OLG’s Pathway to Discipleship, they felt a strong calling to connect the two communities they love and provide opportunities for all to live out the Great Commission of making disciples of all nations.
In 2026, the LA2LA Missionaries at OLG hopes to:
> Raise funds to support at least 2 full time lay missionaries in El Salvador for 2026 ($550 per missionary per month or $13,200 total for the year)
> Provide our community the opportunity to join ETC on a Mission trip in El Salvador over Holy Week
> Build a local intercessory prayer team to surround the missionaries in prayer
How can I support the work of ETC?
Prayers – These lay missionaries need your prayer and intercession for the work they do every day. To join the prayer team, click here
Donations – Helping to fund this work is critical to keep food on the table for these missionaries and their families in the most impoverished parts of El Salvador. One time donations are very appreciated, but recurring weekly or monthly donations make a huge difference over time even in small amounts. To donate or learn more, click here. All donations are tax deductible and will be transferred from OLG to the CANELA Charity, a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit in the U.S. who has supported ETC many years.

Interested in the Holy Week Mission Trip to El Salvador?
LA2LA is assisting in the recruitment of volunteers for ETC’s 2026 Holy Week Mission Trip. All interested missionaries would participate in formation classes at OLG, apply with ETC to attend the mission trip, and privately raise funds to support their mission.
