Emmaus Bible Study is a weekly bible study group where we prayerfully read and study the scriptures with fellow members of our faith community. We strive to keep spirituality and scholarship together in our approach to the scriptures.
WHEN DOES THE BIBLE STUDY MEET?
The group meets every Thursday in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) from 6:30-8:30 PM.
WHO IS THIS BIBLE STUDY FOR?
Parishioners who have previously taken Juan C. Torres’ The Bible Masterclass are especially encouraged to sign up as they have already received extensive instruction on how to read and study scripture. But the group is open to anyone willing to learn.
HOW DOES THE GROUP APPROACH THE BIBLE?
We do not follow the lectionary. Nor do we follow the Church Calendar. We love both, but our focus is to study the scriptures one book at a time. We go back and forth between the Old and New Testaments.
At Emmaus fellow members of our faith community read and study the scriptures together in such a way that spirituality and scholarship are never opposed, but mutually inform one another. To accomplish this we use the bible study guidelines given us in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and in key scripture study documents that resulted from The Second Vatican Council.
