How to Donate Food

POST OFFICE FOOD DRIVE – SATURDAY, MAY 10, 2024

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its annual national food drive on Saturday, May 11. NALC’s food drive, which was first held in 1983, helps feed millions of Americans.

The Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive, the country’s largest one-day food drive, provides residents with an easy way to donate food to those in need. In the 30+ years since it began, the food drive has collected about 1.82 billion pounds of food for struggling residents.

HELPS THE OLG FOOD PANTRY

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive significantly helps us stock the OLG Food Pantry that serves families in our Parish. Each month we use the OLG Food Pantry to serve 66 people in 20 households, with recipients ranging in age from 6 months to 92 years. Currently, our pantry is empty, so we would appreciate your donations of food. Our recipients especially need protein, such as canned meat, canned tuna, chili, soup, beans and rice, and stew.

Contact the Church Office for more details on how you might be able to help this effort.

HOW TO DONATE FOOD

You simply leave your donation of non-perishable food items next to your mailbox before the delivery of the mail on Saturday, May 11. Letter carriers will collect these food donations on that day as they deliver mail along their postal routes. People who have questions about making food donations in your area should ask your letter carrier, contact your  local post office, or go to https://www.nalc.org/community-service/food-drive,
