Emmaus Bible Study is a (mostly) weekly bible study group facilitated by Juan C. Torres. The aim of the group is to prayerfully read and study the scriptures with fellow members of our faith community. All are welcome. All that is necessary is an open heart, a bible, a notebook, and a pen!
What will we study?
Emmaus Bible Study will study scriptures book by book in the Bible. We will meet in person at OLG. We will not follow any lectionary. Nor will we follow the Church Calendar. We love both, but our focus will be to study scripture as it is written in order to become more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. We will begin with a study of a New Testament book. Once done we will study an Old Testament book. Then we will again study another New Testament book and so forth. The class will have a one or two-week (s) break in between book studies.
People are encouraged to sign up and attend when a new book study begins, but we will welcome people who sign up and show up in the middle of a study. Announcements will be made at church, on the newsletter, and on our website.
When does the Bible Study Meet?
Starting Jan. 10, the group will meet on Fridays in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR) from 6:15-8:00 PM

Structure Outline of the Bible Study Meeting
- Welcome/Announcements/Introductory_Remarks
- Opening Prayer
- Bible Masterclass Reminder: Jesus is the key to reading and interpreting the scriptures!
- Recitation of the Jesus Creed: We must love God and our neighbor. Interpretations of the Bible that do not lead to this are wrong!
- Recital of the Great Commision: Jesus wants us to be his disciples, not merely his worshipers or fans/admirers!
- CURRENT BIBLE BOOK STUDY [this is the bulk of the work here]
Evangelization Prayer and Dismissal
Who is this Bible Study for?
All are welcome. Parishioners who have previously taken Juan’s Bible Masterclass are especially encouraged to sign up as they have already received extensive instruction on how to read and study scripture. But the group is also open to those who have not yet taken the masterclass, which will continue to be offered in a modified and updated form at least two times in 2025.
