These are some notes on Jon Galvez’s class, April 28. He gave you all an assignment for the next session 🙂  Scroll to the bottom.

Check out John Krasinski’s (the guy from The Office) YouTube channel for uplifting stories amid today’s circumstances. We all need a smile!

If you need to remember how to pray, remember P – R – A – Y

P – praise (hallowed be thy name // sanctificado sea tu nombre)
R – repent (forgive us our trespasses // perdona nuestras ofensas)
A – ask (give us this day our daily bread // danos hoy nuestro pan de cada dia)
Y – yield (thy will be done // hagase tu voluntad)

Jon shared a passage from the Letter of St James

James 1:2-9
Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials,
for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it.
But he should ask in faith, not doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind.
For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord,
since he is a man of two minds, unstable in all his ways.

After reading this passage, think about this:

These times may be testing you. How have you turned that into something good, rather than letting it leave you feel defeated?

Your Assignment for next time (Tues, May 12)

Start a Mass Journal
Please find a notepad, booklet, blank pages stapled together … to use as your Mass Journal.
Even though we cannot go physically to the church, we want you to participate in Mass online. Livestreaming is best, but watching a recording of the current Sunday’s Mass is OK. Watch OLG Masses live or recorded here: https://ourladyofguadalupechurch.org/discipleship/live-stream-mass/

In your journal, write down one or two things that caught your attention about the readings or what the priest said in his homily after the readings.
At the next online session, we will ask 3 people to share what they journaled from the Sunday 5/2 Mass and 3 people share from the Sunday 5/9 Mass
