HOLY HOUR

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 2
Following 6:30 PM Mass

*Please note on Feb. 2 there will be a Mass in Spanish starting at 6:30 PM
for the Feast of the Presentation and ending with the Holy Hour Adoration.

WHAT IS HOLY HOUR?

Holy Hour is a devotional tradition of spending an hour in Eucharistic adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament

During this time, a Consecrated Host is placed in the center of a sacred vessel called a Monstrance. The word Monstrance means “to show.” During the Holy Hour, the Monstrance is set on the altar for all to see.

WHY GO TO HOLY HOUR?

We can show our adoration to God in many ways.  During Holy Hour, we spend time in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist. It places your soul in the direct presence of Jesus Christ in the trust that he will act if we leave the door open with the merest crack. All it requires is our ability to sit down.

The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time that you will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will help bring about an everlasting peace on earth.” – St. Teresa of Calcutta
Generations of holy women and men have found that honest, persevering prayer before the Blessed Sacrament has helped them to open their eyes, to accept God’s grace more deeply, and respond to it with greater generosity. (Franciscanmedia.org)

And in case you need more encouragement, here are 24 Reasons for Spending a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament published by Catholic News Agency (CNA)

Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease. — Saint Pope John Paul II

WHAT SHOULD I DO DURING HOLY HOUR?

Holy Hour is a blessed time with Jesus. He wants you to spend time with Him. Relax and enjoy this intimate time with Jesus. You may pray, meditate, read prayer books, the bible, pray the rosary, or just enjoy the peace that simply comes from being in the presence of God. Know that Jesus is pleased that you take this specific time to spend with Him.
