As mentioned in the last post, as per directives from the Archbishop, public masses are canceled. We will continue our daily mass at 8 AM celebrated by Fr. Carlos and myself in our private chapel. That will be live streamed on our Facebook page @OLGChurch.hb. Click on “videos” to find the live stream during the broadcast, or to view recordings of prior masses. We will celebrate a Sunday mass in English at 5 PM on Saturday night, and at 6 PM Saturday night in Spanish. These masses will then be available through our facebook page to be watched at any time through the weekend.

The church will remain open for personal prayer, every day typically from 7AM till 7PM. For now we will continue Adoration on Tuesdays from 4 to 7 PM. However at all times we should work together to keep the number of people in the church below 10, and all keep our social distance of 6 feet minimum. Since our two Sunday Masses  however will be broadcast from the church so that we can have music. To do this we will close the church at 4:30 PM on Saturday evening.

Fr. Carlos and I will be making ourselves available in the church for confessions (or if you need to talk) Monday through Friday from 4 to 5 PM, and on Tuesday an additional hour from 6-7PM. Saturday confession times are as normal from 9 to 10 AM.  Confessions or appointments can also be arranged individually by calling the parish office at 310-372-7077. Father Carlos‘s extension is 222, and Fr. Paul‘s is 225.

Tom Baumann and Theresa Avila will continue to be in touch with those youth and families in our Education and Confirmation programs, Bobbi-Lynn Lambert with Music ministers, and similarly our other ministry leaders with their ministries.

As a parish, we are committed to providing outreach to one another, especially to those who are homebound, immunocompromised or otherwise at-risk. If you know someone who is in need of assistance, such as grocery shopping, picking up medications, virtual home visits, or other support, please contact Tom Baumann at 310-372-7077 ext 226. If you would like to assist in helping us in this effort, please call Tom as well or email him at [email protected]

The church office is now closed until further notice. However you will still be able to access our staff through the phone, their extensions will ring on their cell phones, and someone will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

You may also contact any of the staff through email. For a full list of extensions and email addresses click here.

Finally, we understand that we will all be undergoing uncertain and difficult times economically and employment-wise. So this will continue to be in our prayers, and please contact the church if you need help, e.g. though our Hand in Hand program. Also we’d be grateful if you continue to remember us in your donations. Cancelling our Masses will take away our main source of income, the Sunday collection, except for those who give through WeShare (thank you!).  We will also try to minimize our staffing to save money. I am grateful for all you do to help, with you time, talent and treasure. You may still drop off any tithes or offerings in the parish office mailbox, or if clearly marked you may also drop your offertory envelope in the poor box by St. Anthony in the church. You can also mail us your offering at 244 Prospect Ave., Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. Best yet, you may also help us regularly by signing up for WeShare. To make a onetime donation, or a recurring donation online, by bank account or credit card, click here: WeShare.

I also plan to put up soon, more help for prayer and spiritual growth during this time. But for now are you taking advantage of our FREE online Catholic Videos and Books on Formed.org? Sign up through our up website here: Formed.org?  And visit our page for personal Spiritual Growth?

Fr. Carlos and I will continue to pray our Mass intentions, for those that are scheduled, including for all our parishioners.  On behalf of the Fr. Carlos, and the Staff, God Bless You.

Fr. Paul
