The Book of the Dead is in the center of our parish worship place during the Novena for All Souls Day. Please take a moment and look through the book. This book reminds us all to pray for those who have gone home to the Father before us. November is the month of the faithful departed. Life, safety, and happiness with Christ are the blessings we beg from God as we pray for the departed. It is “a…hold and wholesome thought to pray for the dead…” (2Mac 12:45). The Letter to the Ephesians affirms that these blessings also come to us, the living.”…”You are the light in the Lord. Live as children of Light” (Eph 5:8). In the Light we find every kind of goodness and truth, this is our prayer for all the faithful departed and for ourselves as well. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.
