The Parish food Drive Needs your Help

The Hand’N’Hand Food Drive began over 20 years ago. The Food Drive occurs the third Sunday of every month. The recipients of the Food Drive are registered parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe church. We occasionally evaluate their status, and add or remove families as needed. We currently have 13 families with 32 people. We try to focus on the elderly, disabled, and children, although most of our recent additions to the list have been due to the head of household’s unemployment. Current families range in size from one person to seven. We have generous people who shop for perishable food before the Food Drives so, in addition to non-perishable food that parishioners donate, we are also able to offer milk and fresh produce. Parishioners often ask what type of food we need.

While we gratefully accept any donations, try to collect: soup, stew, chili, tuna fish, canned chicken, beans, and peanut butter. Additionally, donors may want to consider donating household products, such as laundry detergent, dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and toilet paper. If you would like to help, please come to the parish hall between 8AM and 10:30AM on the third Sunday of any month. This is great for service hours needed for school, scouting, or sacramental preparation, or just families who want to expose their children to volunteering and helping the needy. Should you have any questions please call Eileen O’Brien, the Parish Food Drive Coordinator at (310) 316-0553. thank you for your generosity.
